Parking also available in the gravel lot adjacent to the greenway.  Bring used plastic bags\, gloves\, optional trash grabber.  Binoculars provided. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Mill Site Trail Tour at Historic Bethabara
DESCRIPTION:Visit Historic Bethabara Park for a guided trail tour to visit the archaeological site of the Bethabara Mill and other historic landmarks in the park. Check in time for these tours will be 10:00 AM. Tour should end at 11:30. Participants must register at least 1 day before each date. This will allow the leader to contact them due to weather issues or other changes. Meet at Visitor Center. Ages 10 & up. Frog Walk at Ivey Redmon Park\, 908 Beeson Road\, Kernersville MAP Learn about our local frogs and toads with a walk through the wetlands of Ivey Redmon Park (in the woods behind the playing fields). Led by NC Sierra Club Foothills Group outings leader Henry Fansler and Wendi Hartup\, Kernersville Stormwater Manager\, the frog walks will begin with a brief presentation about what species you may see or hear\, how to identify them and their important role in habitats. Anyone participating in this activity should be prepared for wet\, muddy conditions and dress for the weather. We will meet at the soccer field parking lot. Look for the giant dragonfly sign. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a peaceful and reflective time at Historic Bethabara Park\, where we will blend birdwatching with mindfulness practices to deepen our connection to nature. Whether you’re an experienced birder or a curious beginner\, this event invites you to slow down\, tune in\, and engage fully with the natural world. \nMindfulness is a practice that involves paying attention to the present moment with compassion and nonjudgement\, and practicing mindfulness in nature is known to decrease stress and increase feelings of interconnection with others. Our theme on this outing will focus on grounding and presence\, so we will learn techniques to cultivate more awareness in the present moment\, such as mindful listening\, mindful walking\, and mindful breathing. While listing bird species is not our focus\, we will be observing them closely and learning about local species and ecology as an anchor to the present moment. \nAll ages and experience levels with birding and mindfulness are welcome\, and families are encouraged to join.
