DESCRIPTION:The Pill Collection Drop Box is a program for citizens as a convenient and safe way to dispose of unneeded or unwanted pills from their homes. Proper and safe disposal of pills serves to reduce the possibility of accidental or criminal misuse of these drugs as well as providing a safe alternative to disposing of medications in landfills and/or sewer systems. Keeping medicine out of our landfills and sewers keeps our environment and drinking water safer. \n  \nRestrictions: This program is only for pills. No other form of drugs will be accepted. (No liquids\, gels\, sharps\, syringes or aerosol products.) This program is only for households. Pills from businesses\, health care facilities\, long-term care facilities\, pharmaceutical representatives\, pharmacies\, doctor offices and veterinary clinics will not be accepted. \n  \nLocations \n\nPublic Safety Center (725 N. Cherry St.) 8am-5pm\nDistrict 1 (7836 N Point Blvd.) 8am-4pm\nDistrict 2 (1539 Waughtown St.) 8am-4pm\nDistrict 3 (2393 Winterhaven Ln.) 8am-4pm\n\nFor each location\, check in with the officer at the front desk and ask for an officer to help assist you with the drop box. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Cooperative Extension\, Forsyth County Center\, Forsyth County Soil and Water Conservation District\, and Forsyth County Emergency Management\, for a practical emergency preparedness workshop during Forsyth Creek Week. This session will focus on the types of emergencies most likely to impact the Piedmont of North Carolina — including flooding\, severe storms\, winter weather\, and other disruptions — with special attention to water-related risks. Participants will learn what to do before\, during\, and after an emergency\, where to find reliable information in Forsyth County\, how to determine whether their home is located in a floodplain\, and where to access updates about shelters and community resources. We’ll also cover simple\, actionable steps you can take now\, including how to assemble an emergency kit and plan for food preparation during power outages. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to strengthen your current plans\, this workshop will help you feel more confident and prepared for whatever comes your way.
