DESCRIPTION:Join us for a volunteer storm drain marking event! You and your group can pick a neighborhood or be assigned one to help label storm drains and raise awareness that only rain should go down the drain. These simple actions help prevent pollution\, protect our creeks\, and keep our communities beautiful. What’s provided: Safety vests\, drain marker placards and adhesive\, and gloves. What you should bring: Sunscreen\, water bottle\, closed-toed shoes\, and friends! Please sign up for your group (1 slot = 1 group) and list the number of people expected for your group and if you have a preferred neighborhood or area of Kernersville you want to mark. Groups can be any size. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. All participants must sign liability waivers. Please register your group [link released 3 weeks prior to event date].

SUMMARY:Household Hazardous Waste Recycling
DESCRIPTION:3RC EnviroStation accepts chemical and other household hazardous waste that should not be disposed of in a landfill. It also accepts electronic waste\, such as computers and televisions\, that are banned from landfills under North Carolina law. Click on the link here to see the types of wastes accepted on the second page. \n  \nThis waste could cause environmental damage or contaminate groundwater if disposed of improperly.  Forsyth County residents may drop off electronic waste and household hazardous waste at the EnviroStation at no charge. Regular trash\, recyclables\, ammunition\, explosives\, radioactive\, medical/infectious waste and e-cigarette waste is not accepted. This is a free service provided to all Forsyth County residents by the City of Winston-Salem Stormwater Division and Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Utilities. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

We’ll begin with the Creek to Coast Kids Zone\, featuring light snacks\, crafts\, games\, and engaging activities designed to help families learn about creeks in Forsyth County and how water flows through our community. Discover how storm drains connect to streams\, how pollution travels downstream\, and simple steps we can take to protect our waterways. Families will also enjoy a special presentation of All the Way to the Ocean\, a powerful story that shows how litter on a sidewalk can travel through storm drains\, into creeks\, and eventually reach the ocean. Following the activities and storytime\, settle in for a screening of Finding Nemo\, a beloved family film that celebrates the beauty and wonder of ocean life.
