DESCRIPTION:Help us keep our waterways pristine! Join us for a community cleanup at Muddy Creek Park as we work to remove litter and debris from the creek and surrounding trails. Whether you want to get your feet wet or stay on solid ground\, there is a job for everyone! \n\n\nThe Deep Dive: If you have waders\, bring them along! We’ll be heading into the creek to clear out trapped debris. \n\n\nThe Trail Team: No waders? No problem! We need plenty of hands to patrol the trails and bank areas to keep the park beautiful for hikers and local wildlife. \n\n\nAll supplies provided! We will have gloves\, trash bags\, and pickers ready for you. Just bring yourself\, some water\, and a passion for the environment. \nMeet in the parking lot off Robinhood Rd\, located at 4600 Robinhood Rd. SUMMARY:A Walking Guide to the Trees of Old Salem
DESCRIPTION:Take a guided walk through Old Salem and learn to identify native trees while discovering some of their historical uses.\n\nThanks to their extensive root systems\, trees play a critical role in maintaining water quality. Join Adam Tran\, Northwest Piedmont Master Naturalist Volunteer and Extension Master Gardener Volunteer\, for a guided tour of Old Salem’s native trees. He will discuss each tree’s role in the landscape\, key identifying features\, and both historical and modern uses of the Piedmont’s diverse tree species. The tour will follow the scenic Old Salem grounds and the Salem Creek watershed\, highlighting twenty-seven native trees along the way.\n\nPlease wear comfortable walking shoes. All ages are welcome\, though an adult should accompany youth under the age of 16. DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, March 22· 2:00pm: Forsyth Creek Week Long Creek Trail Wetlands Walk in Bethania NC Sierra Club Foothills Group outings leader Henry Fansler will lead a fun and informative walk exploring the wetlands of Long Creek. We will be joined by Dr. Ken Bridle\, the Conservation Advisor of Piedmont Land Conservancy and a Ph.D. in plant physiology and natural product chemistry. Together we will learn why the quality of our water sources begin with wetlands. We will only hike a portion of the trail. Remember to dress for the weather and wear trail walking footwear.
