Pervious Parking
Pervious pavement (also called porous concrete, permeable concrete, no fines concrete and porous pavement) is a special type of concrete with a high porosity that absorbs rainwater and allows it to pass through it down into the underlying soil, thereby reducing the runoff from a site.
Pervious parking also includes gravel parking lots, and also porous paving grids and pervious grass pavers. A gravel parking lot can be a less-expensive alternative to asphalt or concrete paving when installed with good sub-grade preparation and proper drainage. Because the gravel is permeable it allows replenishment of groundwater while minimizing stormwater runoff.
